Tresco Estate acquired the Hell Bay Hotel in 2002 and a major refurbishment of the hotel was undertaken, it was decided to run the hotel as a hotel art gallery, the visitor would stay on the tranquil island of Brhyer whilst being surrounded by original paintings and sculptures from the Dorrien Smith Art collection. Tom was commissioned to create two centrepieces and the strong geometric shapes and surfaces of his ‘outdoor pictures’ were ideal for complimenting the new courtyard entrance area at the hotel.
