Tom was asked by Golowan Community Arts to produce a series of way markers for a town trail in the busy fishing port of Newlyn, his home town. Designed in 2003, (sited 2004) the 20 way-markers incorporated various ideas arising from Newlyn and are linked to the buildings on which they are placed. For example, modelled from a real Newlyn crab the bronze crab symbolises the shellfish industry.

The 20 inch bronzes were cast at Orion Bronze Castings at nearby Hayle and the outer ring, (numbers and writing,) by Tom in his workshop. Sponsored by the Lottery Commission the trail has a pamphlet and CD guide giving directions, historic details and stories about Newlyn, they are available locally.
